Weight loss and weight control
We work to uncover the unconscious meaning
of unregulated eating, providing a catalyst for serious psychodynamic
work.
|
|
|
The only effective way of permanently
managing any weight or food related issue is to get to the
core of the problem: the mind is using negative self-hypnosis
and convincing the person that consuming more food is good,
even when there is no physiological need for it.

Weight and food Issues
Most of us have an intricate web of beliefs that support our
negative behaviour, so our approach is rather like doing a jigsaw,
picking out the pieces required for each individual picture.
Initially that means a session of goal orientated
therapy, identifying a realistic and achievable outcome, and introducing
the programme techniques.
We then go on to deal with the issues that affect
each individual, piece by piece. Some people habitually use of food
to either separate from uncomfortable feelings, or eat to bury emotion
or to cover up pain. We work to free you from this habit, and establish
a new response pattern.
Others suffer internal ambivalence when pursuing
a healthier eating plan. We work to bring every part of you, the
conscious mind and the subconscious mind, in line, heading for the
same goal.

No weight-loss program is magic, and nobody is
perfect. We have designed strategies to help those who have failed
to lose weight or keep it off in the past. We help you overcome
the inevitable setbacks, and keep your goal in sight.
Some people need resolve in the face of temptation
by loved ones or close friends. We work to put a new more empowering
perspective on dining with others.
Using embedded suggestions we encourage a desire
to exercise both formally and informally.
There may also be a need to work on developing
a real desire for the healthy high water content foods, or grains,
beans and pasta, which are so important to most good eating plans.
Eating more slowly allows you to gain the maximum
enjoyment out of your food. Developing respect for your body and
care over what you put in it, so we work to put our use of food
into perspective.

Food is of course crucial for life, but using
food as something other than fuel for our body can be very destructive.
Some of us need to put food back into its proper place in the order
of things, encouraging other, and healthier ways of defining ourselves.
We help to eradicate false beliefs, dispelling
any reasons held unconsciously, allowing excessive weight to provide
a way of not being the way we can be.
We need to be actively involved in our eating
habits at every level. Developing discernment over what we eat,
educating our shopping habits, stopping impulse buying and consumption.
Using food to medicate against feelings or moods
is common, especially amongst women. We need to gain the realization
that food is an inappropriate remedy for anything other than genuine
hunger. We help develop appropriate 'Power Thoughts' or affirmations
aimed at developing new strategies for coping.
We may also need to work on the false belief
that our weight is integral to our sense of identity, and or that
we 'cant help being fat'.
Finally some people need extra help to
cope with eating whilst out or on holiday. We work to encourage
mental preparation and using rehearsal strategies, develop a comfortable
feeling of control.
