Osteopathy
The Romney Centre, which is conveniently located in the centre of Southampton, now offers Oestopathy to the residents of South Hampshire. Ian Traynor has a wide experience working in Bristol before moving to Southampton.
Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment which although focuses on mechanical problems of the body frame, (such as back pain) also allows for the involvement of visceral disturbances (such as organs of the body), and whole person factors (such as stress and emotional disturbances).
Osteopaths are trained to identify the source of symptoms and the nature of tissue disturbances, whilst at the same time assessing how this has physically effected the whole body. Although this is similar to a medical diagnosis, treatment plans are designed around practical 'hands-on' techniques.
Practitioners can treat a wide range of complaints such as:
* general aches and pains in the back, neck and shoulders
* severe and chronic spinal pain
* neck pain & whiplash sustained from road traffic accidents
* torticolis (muscle spasm in the neck)
* various other joint complaints eg frozen shoulder & knee pain
* headaches & migraines
* nerve pains
Practitioners also focus on preventative healthcare, so will advice you accordingly, or give you other post-treatment advice.
